About this dataset
The study addresses the limited Irish-based research on how AI may affect social work values, decision-making, and service delivery. International scholarship highlights both the opportunities and risks of AI in human services, yet the Irish context remains underexplored. Using a qualitative, desk-based methodology, the research analyses Irish AI policies, public sector guidelines, academic literature, and publicly available datasets from sources such as data.gov.ie, Tusla, and the ISSDA. The study aims to critically evaluate how AI can be governed ethically to protect client rights, ensure human oversight, reduce discriminatory outcomes, and support social justice within increasingly data-driven welfare systems.
